03.05.08 TE MARUA HORSE CLUB AGM – SATURDAY 17TH MAY 2008
at the Club Grounds - 2pm. – President’s shout, followed by AGM
Please find attached nomination forms for officers and committee members, proxy voting forms and remit forms. You can complete these and send them to me, or bring them to the AGM on the day. If you can’t open these forms please let me know and I will post them to you.
Unfortunately, Coralie is standing down as President this year so we need to find a new president to take her place. Leia McEvoy has been nominated for President, but if anyone else would like to make a nomination for President please complete the nomination form and send it in, or bring it on the day.
The Secretary and Treasurer are happy to continue in their positions for another year, but again if anyone else would like to do one of these roles please complete a nomination form.
We are also looking for new committee members so please consider this role as well. We would welcome anyone with enthusiasm and new ideas.
Also here is a membership form for the 2008/09 financial year. Membership renewal is due on the 1st June 2008 (and remember that you need to be a financial member to compete in the Winter Dressage Series!) You can renew your membership at the AGM, or send it to me.

Autumn Show
Well, the weather was perfect for the Autumn Show, and we had a the largest turnout for years. This is a great opportunity for people with inexperienced horses in the beginner classes while providing some close competition in the higher ones. Results are here. Anyone have some photos?

08.04.08 Shame about the weather at Camp! Saturday was dampish but everyone had a good time (with the possible exception of someone who hurt her hand after being tossed off an overly excited horse - who's normally the quietest you could wish for at home... but that's horses for you). But Sunday dawned wet and windy, and all classes were cancelled - though some keen people went for a hack so that the day was not completely wasted.
Has anyone got photos? I have some of one class jumping, which I will put up, but if anyone can give me some more (preferably email) that would be great.

21.01.08 A member received this recently, and I thought I'd pass it on...
"I am looking for wormie horse pooh. If your horse has not been wormed for at least 8 weeks (12 to 16 if they were last wormed with Moxidectin) then they could be the perfect candidate.
I would like a fresly passed sample of about 400 grams (a handful or 4 pellets) in a plastic bag, sent to me within 24 hours. I will conduct a faecal egg count on the pooh and can then make those results available to you for use in your parasite management strategy.
I am doing my masters through Massey University on drench resistance in horses and need samples from as many horses as possible to validate a test that has been developed. Any assistance will be greatly apreciated.

Te Marua Pony Club have hired our grounds
for jumping lessons with Gary Sinclair - these will
be on these dates:
Sun 19 August – 10am - 1pm
Sun 2 September – 10am – 1pm
Sun 23 September – 10am – 1pm
Su12 October – 10am – 1pm
Rain off days are 16th and 30th September .
Gary has agreed to give a one hour lesson to club members,
starting at 1pm, so if you are interested contact Coralie or Paula.

This is the first time we will be able to use our new Clubhouse - we'll celebrate it with a BBQ and a huge group photo.
Rachel says: Would be great if you can make it with your GG's or just on foot- for lunch!
Would really love some helpers on the 14th April to set up jumps for the show this allows for a bit more relaxation on the day without the rush!
Lets say 10.30 Saturday morning - your muscles will be much appreciated!
Once again camp was a huge success, what a fantastic weekend! Beautiful weather and all. Hope you all had a great time, although I was on foot it still was great to catch up with everyone there- I will make the effort to be in the saddle next year! Hope everyone's muscles are recovering- what a challenge for the thighs riding around with no stirrups aye! Mine are aching and all I did was watch :o )
Thanks to those who pitched in and attended dinner on Sat night, what a hoot its was especially for those who crawled into bed after midnight (that's because we had no more booze left to drink)!!!
Will email some pics out to individuals and try and have them on the website soon! If anyone else can email me photos from the day, please do so as my memory card was full pretty quick so missed out on a lot!!

Rachel says: Thanks so much to those who offered their time and support for the Teams Event dinner on Saturday, our friendly hospitality and great tucker was a hit with the 80+ that attended. The feedback was just fabulous, comments on the homemade dishes were just pouring in throughout the evening "so well done to those fantastic cooks"!
A big thanks also to Upper Hutt Pony Club, for use of their facillities, and all their combined support in making this fundraiser go ahead! (YES I MEAN YOU, HEATHER & ALEX)!!!
Profits were about $700 from the event - well worth our while, every little bit counts I say!
05.12.06 Break-up BBQ this year will be at Jayne Tuckey's place - 9 Rovale Estate, Johnsons Road, Whitemans Valley. Please BYO booze and a small dessert - everything else is provided! But Rachel would appreciate knowing numbers - partners, children etc welcome!

20.10.06 Great News! Rachel has managed to secure a grant from Trust House Rimutaka to buy our clubroom - a new 6mx6m garage which will be sited on the grounds. There will be room for all the poles etc in there, and a kitchen and a toilet. But the kitchen and toilet will still have to be fund-raised for - the drainage alone is $6,000! Full report coming in Committee News very soon!
